I created quite a lot of these really cool miniature
Color Bars but it's a very time consuming process that's why this is the last batch I will ever make.
The Color Bar is super tiny and fits perfect under the dashboard of a classic 1/25 scaled model cars. It comes already
assambled including a micro switch, battery and miniature packaging you only need to use a piece of electrical
tape to mount the prongs to the battery.

One time offer for $37,50 International priority shipping included. PayPal only!

Unfortunately that didn't happen.
A while ago doctors found a spot on Ryan's brain that grew slightly bigger over time. Eventually Things didn't
look too good for Ryan and he went for treatment to a special clinic two weeks ago. I was convinced he would
win the battle against his disease and that he could get his life back on track but things didn't turn out that way.
Struggling with his situation Ryan's life ended on Saturday morning August 27 2011 at age 27.

My deepest condolences go out to his wife Jamie Happe, his family and friends.
We lost a one of a kind guy and a dear friend. Rest in Peace Ryan.

Got Juice? The story of LiPo batteries

To make my miniature lowrider models perform the best they can I use modern day technology in the form of rechargeable Lithium Ion Polymer batteries. LiPo batteries, as they are called, are rated 3.6 volt and have the advantage of being small, somewhat flexible but still containing quite a lot of milliamps (mAh) considering the size. They also hold their energy for quite a long time compared to standard NiMH rechargeable batteries. The discharge rate is quite high meaning that they can deliver a lot of power to the motors.

They come in sizes starting at 10X12mm having 70mAh which are perfect for powering micro RC cars, LED and in my case Colorbars. The 850mAh on the right is perfect for providing juice for the 1/25 Cadillac lowrider I'm creating. I get my LiPo batteries from Hobbyking.com as they are very low priced and the quality is excellent.

To charge LiPo batteries you need a special charger and since I have a variety of LiPo batteries I use a charger that chargers at different rates to make sure the batteries won't damage or even worse explode.
In the picture you see the bare PCB charger with jumpers and above the boxed version I created using that same PCB. I swapped the jumpers for dip switches to set the charge rate for the different batteries I'm using. The smaller the battery the lower the charging rate. This charger I bought from Sol-Expert in Germany but you can also find some on Ebay.

Here's an example of a very small 70mAh LiPo battery which I accidentally overcharged. You can see that the battery is inflated and looks like a balloon. Charging it any longer using too much amps it will eventually explode. As long as you set the right charging rate you'll be fine.
LiPo batteries don't like to be drained/ discharged all the way to let's say 1V. When the voltage drops below 3V they need to be charged. I usually notice it when the model starting to move slower and slower than it's time to charge the battery.

I really like these type of batteries they are easy to use and you can easily fit two to three batteries inside the trunk of your model lowrider. Charging the batteries takes aprox. 1 to 1.5 hours depending on the batteries capacity. For RC lowrider models that can cruise and dance I use one 850mAh battery, for hopping I add an extra battery. The provide 3.6V and 20C discharge rate is enough to make your model go back bumper.
If you have any questions on the use of LiPo batteries feel free to contact me.

The 1/25 RC Cadillac Lowrider Project

The main focus with this model is to create an authentic looking rear drive setup complete with drive shaft.
I did quite a lot of experimenting to come up with a rear drive setup that works and look good. After looking everywhere on the internet I was not able to find a nice looking universal joint so I had to create one myself using brass.

Trail and error. The micro gear motor with 10:1 gear ratio is the ideal motor for this cruiser. It's small and has lot's of torque and speed.

I tried different gear setups and started out with a worm gear setup. The result looked quite good but the problem was the speed..there wasn't any speed in combination with the 10:1 gear motor only very, very slow cruising.

The worm gear setup did not work so I went with a crown gear but this setup was too big to fit nicely inside the pumpkin that came with Revell kit. I had these micro miter gears that are used on 1/64, 1/87 scale models and although I had no high hopes that they would last it proved to be the succes formula. These micro miter gears from Gizmozone are super tough but it's hard to install them at an exact 45 degree angle to make sure they won't slip and finally strip.

I did a mockup to see if everything works and here's a short video of the hydro's and rear drive in action.

This miniature trike rolls back and forth, steers, hops the front and has a 4GB MP3 player with amplifier on board.
Initially it had some problems with steering but after adding a micro differential it steers perfect!
The overall style of this tricycle is inspired by Latin Active II a creation of the De Alba family from Elite car club.
This lowrider miniature tricycle is a work in progress and a study for creating a larger sized tricycle model using Hoppin' Hydro's 1/6 scale lowrider bike model.
Here's a short video of the tricycle in action!

Miniature sub woofer connected to a micro amplifier and 4GB MP3 player delvers more than enough sound for this miniature lowrider tricycle.

Soldered brass springer fork that is pushed by a tiny steel cable to make this miniature lowrider tricycle hop hitting the back. Another steel cable makes it turn left and right. The wire wheels and other plastic parts came from a old Lindberg lowrider bike kit.

MACHETE The Movie and mini docu's by Estevan Oriol

Director Robert Rodriquez and him had seen my videos on Youtube and really liked the idea of having one of my models in a scene of the movie.
Untill that moment I only knew there was a fake trailer of Machete and a full feature movie sounded like a killer idea. Unfortunately in the end the budget was too tight to have any of my work featured in the movie.
Check out the really tight trailer of the movie and go check it out in the theaters. It's a killer movie!
